BUSY BUSY BUSY!!!

Red Dirt Rebellion is moving so fast, it's hard to keep this blog updated! So much has happened in the last couple of weeks, here's an update....

Since our last blog, we've finally SET UP OUR BANKED TRACK!!!! Yes, it's true, Oklahoma's ONLY banked track is finally up and working :) Here is a picture of "The Beast"

Actually, this is a pretty cool story :) But before I get into that, I gotta tell you about our very first exhibition bout in McAlester last weekend!

The bout was awesome!! We skated at the McAlester Expo Center, which is a HUGE venue. We split the league into 2 teams: "The White Widows" and "The Blue Balls." Everyone played an incredible game... there were a lot of hard hits a tough spills. But in the end, the White Widows pulled ahead with a 59-48 point win. The crowd loved it, and we spent an extra 45 minutes after the bout signing autographs! Here are a few photos (you can view more on our MySpace page www.myspace.com/cb9originalplayaa):

The bout was awesome, and we're so proud of all the girls for putting in their best efforts and kickn' major ass!

Before the exhibition bout, the Board of Directors decided that it would be pretty cool to surprise our girl by setting up the banked track without them knowing :) So once we got back from McAlester, we rallied the troops and managed to secretly set up the banked track in 2 days, so when they showed up to practice the next Thursday... it was a TOTAL SURPRISE!!!! We got the whole thing on video, and it was exciting to see the looks on their faces when we opened the big garage door to reveal a completely constructed BANKED TRACK!!! HEE HEE!

It's getting pretty late, so I'll try to update again tomorrow (or at least later this week).

Frequently Asked "Derby" Questions, "Derby Lingo"

We've been working extra hard on our website over the last few weeks. We've added a TON of helpful derby information, a Frequently Asked Questions page, definitions of "Derby Lingo," and we've finally got the WALL OF PAIN up!!! I know that's what you've have been waiting for all this time ;) We've got a few more website tricks up our sleeve, so check back every day to see what other updates we're making!

We're also practicing really hard for our upcoming exhibition bout in McAlester next Saturday, April 18th! Lastnight's practice was awesome, especially since we had our entire Referee staff there. We managed to do a complete bout run-through, and it was definitely a workout!

We can't wait to get our track set up and start skating on it! We only have 2 more months to prepare for "BATTLE ON THE BANK II" (the once-a-year national banked track roller derby tournament, held in Austin, TX this summer!) Start saving your money NOW so you can travel with us to Austin and cheer us on as we skate against some of the biggest known names in ROLLER DERBY!

We've got lots of work to do!!! :)

Track is moved, time to practice!

GREAT NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!

We finally got our track moved into our NEW BUILDING on Saturday!!! How exciting!!! It took about 20 people, 3 huge flatbet trailers, 4 truck loads, and close to 5 hours... but we got it done! We are super stoked to be in our new warehouse, it's the perfect practice area for us :)

Right now we are preparing for our upcoming "exhibition bout" in McAlester on April 18th, and since it will be a flat track bout, we are continuing to practice on a temporary flat track for a couple weeks. As soon as we get this "exhibition bout" under our belts we'll be assembling the track and making repairs so we can be ready for our debut home bout season!

Sunday was the "Pennies From Heaven" celebration to bring awareness to teen suicide. Tracy Neely (aka: F5) is a retired rollergirl who's 15 year old son, Andrew, committed suicide 2 years ago. Red Dirt Rebellion was happy to attend the fundraiser in rememberance of Andrew Neely and to help bring awareness to this growing problem. It was a beautiful event, and our prayers and thoughts are always with Tracy and her family. News 9 was there to interview Tracy, read the full story HERE.

More updates to come!
